Our next stop is Vergennes, VT. This is actually south of Westport but you have to go North on Lake Champlain and then navigate a tricky entrance into  Otter Creek. The depth of Lake Champlain has been up to 400 feet. We have to go past the creek and come back as the water shallows from 100 feet to 1 foot very quickly.

We are rewarded with a beautiful waterfall and another free town dock. We visit the small town and Library and use follow the advice of boaters we meet in Westport that “The Black Sheep” restaurant is the place for dinner which was terrific. The library has a book sale where we pick up a few books to read. So far I have read one book since 4-15, but I could to resist getting a collection of children’s books for Knox at $.25 each. $2.50 for the books, $10.00 to mail them home.
