We had decided to stay in our anchorage for the day and explore. We made a lunch and set out to have a picnic on the rocks. Unfortunately it was overcast and cool. So we just putted around and checked out the area. A beautiful place to explore. “Native Sun” was anchored in Gun Barrel on the other side of the island. We stopped and had a chat with them. As we got back into the Dinghy and reached to untie the line a snake swam between us and their boat. When we got back to Jackets II we had a message from 20Buck$ and Next to ME, they were in Covered Portage. This was our next stop and if we skipped Collins Inlet, Covered Portage it was only about 3 hours away. Since it was overcast and cool we decided to go for it, Collins Inlet was supposedly a difficult passage.
Well as we left, “Viking Star” was on the way in to the anchorage. He wished us luck and said it was kind of rough out there. We said we had stabilizers and he said you’re going to need them. I told them about the anchorage on the other side if the Island at “Gun Barrel” and we headed out. About 5 minutes into the trip we decided that getting beat-up for 3 hours was not a wise decision so we turned around and made our way into Gun Barrel. This is a beautiful anchorage protected by rocks. I swam ashore to tie off the boat so would not swing into the rocks, I swam over to Native Sun and enjoyed a beer. They asked us over if we put the dinghy back in the water. We never got it back in but we were visited by “Viking Star” . It was a very nice evening getting to know Gordon and Kate, we hope to see them again on the loop.
