The city has a marina right downtown, it has water and power. The water is suspect, rusty from lack of use. The location is fantastic. We were able to walk to all the downtown attractions; The County Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Hall, the Strip. The live music in all the downtown bars is great.
We got to visit with my mother’s cousin Joe and Jo Dermid and their Family. Nothing beats a little home cooking.
Erin and Mike drove up from Atlanta and spent one night on Jackets II. We got a chance to watch some football and relax with them before they had to head back.
Nashville’s airport is served by the local bus system, which made a car rental easy without the cost of a taxi. We also lucked out and found free parking downtown for most of our stay. If not the parking would have cost as much as the car.
We had a fun filled week with Joe and Tara Parker from “Seabatical”.
We got out with the car and visited Arrington Vineyards, the Grand Ole Opry, Lynchburg for some Jack Daniels, and an over eating binge at the Loveless Hotel. Charlotte and I had been to the Loveless Hotel nearly 30 years ago. The food was just as good but the wait was longer, nearly 2 hours.
We tail gated on the boat on Thursday night for the Titians game. The stadium is directly across from the marina. Some folks come to the game by way of a paddle boat. The Titans were the underdog but defeated the Steelers.
We decided to attend a concert at The Ryman, the original home of the Grand Ole Opry. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were playing and we got tickets about 12 rows back off Craigslist. Grace and the Nocturnals were terrific… great rock and Roll concert.
