We went for a walk in the morning across a suspension bridge and into town. The lock was about a mile from the town, down a wooded path. In the park near the town there is a giant “twonie” a two dollar coin in Canada. A resident of Cambellford designed the coin.
We saw 20Buck$ getting fuel at the ESSO station. The gas station is right on the channel and they sell gas and diesel to boats and cars for the same price. We had heard this would be the best price we would see in Canada. $1.19 per liter or $4.52 a gallon. We had a little trouble with our credit card, seems that $440.00 is an unusually high charge for a gas station instead of a marina. I called and straighten it out then almost messed up Kelly’s card. She was reviewing recent charges and I denied several in Europe, till I remembered Kelly was at Oxford for the summer. We have had our credit card compromised on the trip once already so we have been cautious.
Speaking of Kelly. we have not had internet for a while and have been going to coffee houses to download mail. So we haven’t spoken to her in a few weeks. She sent us a message on Facebook wondering if we were ok, and “should we be the ones worried about her?”. LST (Looper Standard Time) strike again.
We left about 11 am for Hastings. Many of the locks are at or near a town. We will be able to use our season pass and stay on a wall. We got the last spot on the wall. There were about 5 Loopers there already. We got behind Pattywagon, we had not seen them since NYC. We enjoyed catching up with them on their loop adventures. They are among the few boat without a bow thruster. I am always impressed with how boats without them negotiate the locks.
