Well today has been quite a day. After looking at the forecast we decided to go all the way from Rock Hall, MD to Cape May, NJ. We left at 8:30 am and got into an anchorage by the Coast Guard Station about 7 pm. Way too late to be getting to a popular anchorage. And so I am writing this at 12:24 on the 23rd. This is after having to pull our anchor and move, we were too close to a sailboat. When the wind and current change we could have shook hands with a couple on the sail boat. So we moved and are now sitting up hoping the anchor does not drag and the current doesn’t swing us into harm’s way.
The reason for the long run today is the same reason the anchorage is so full. The sea off shore from Cape May to Sandy Hook (entrance to NY) have been too rough for almost a week. We decided to make a run for it while the seas were calm, so did a bunch if other people.
The cruise from Rock Hall was really nice, a little cool and over cast until about 3 pm but very calm seas. The homes on the water ar beautiful.
Came across another cool light house.
About 5 miles from Cape May we experienced afternoon FOG during a sunny afternoon, it rolled in and we went from about 6 miles visibility to 1/4 of a mile. Thankful it only lasted for about an 20 minutes.
