We got up early and headed to Solomon’s which meant crossing back across the Bay. It is really nice having a heavy boat with stabilizers. We went up the Tangier sound which added about an hour to the cruise but we had the protection of the Eastern Coastline. This was good since as we approached the Bay from the sound we could see how rough it was, 1-3 feet with a 15-20 knot wind. We only had to go for about 1 1/2 hours in the rough stuff and then into Solomon’s.
Beautiful homes on the river into Solomons
We found a spot to drop the anchor and got some rest. The conditions in the Bay were predicted to be bad so we decided to just hang out for a few days. We the dinghy down to go to a store. We were expecting about a 2 mile walk as we searched for the “Holiday Inn dock” to tie up and walk to the store.
As we passed a sailboat named “Last Call”, Charlotte asked about where the dock was located, our soon to be friends said we should just dock at their boat and use their car. You got to love cruisers. Karen and RL started cruising about 4 years ago and this is their home port. The car was great and we loaded up with groceries while we had the chance. After we got done shopping and had the groceries on board we went back and enjoyed some drinks with them toasting their 38th anniversary.
Charlotte and Headed to the Tiki Bar, as we were told no visit to Solomon’s is complete without it, quite a place.
The next day we visited the Maritime Museum and the light House that was relocated to their. We tried to imagine raising 5 kids their. One family managed to to it. The light house was about 1000 feet from shore and the kids rowed into the school bus.
“Next To Me” and “Perfect Balance” came in. We got a picture of them from the Museum. We got together for drinks and dinner. It was Saturday night and opening day for Solomon’s season so dinner was problamtic. I guess we will so be in “High Season” for our cruising route. So we enjoyed drinks in a bar and then all decided it was too late to eat 1 hr into our 30 min wait for a table. All in All is was great to see Bob and Katherine on “Next To Me” and on get to know Jim and Mimi “Perfect Balance”
