We got a call from Tara reminding us that the bridge only opens on the 1/2 hour so we needed to be out of the marina on time or sit and wait. We got it together and made the bridge with Seabatical. The trip to Nicolet was a nice cruise. The light winds were from the south so it was at our back. This made it very nice on the bridge. We anchored and then put the dinghy in and went exploring. A local boater told us about a trail along the limestone cliffs, Joe and Tara went with us to check them out. It was a beautiful day to be out on the dinghy.
After dinner we took the dinghy to shore and walked about a mile to an outdoor theater. The theater is open for the summer, and this is the last week. We saw “The Cheeseheads, The Musical”. It was really good. There were quite a few jokes about the tough winters, but the crowd really laughed when the punch line was “at least was not in Minnesota”. We still find it hard to believe that the water will be frozen here. They had live music and the actors very talented. They polled the crowd and many had been coming to the theater for decades.
There was not a could in the sky when we got back to the boat, the stars were magnificent.
Wednesday morning we got the dinghy down and moved the bikes over to the docks. This was the first time we had used the dinghy to move the bikes on the loop. We had a great day riding around the park. The weather was great; low 70′s with a light wind. After we got back to the boats we took the dinghy across to Horseshoe Island. We sat on the rock beach and had some drinks and talked about the weather. We have been getting some reports that the draught might make our trip down the Mississippi pretty tough. Some of the other loopers have accelerated their schedules so as to get through the Mississippi leg before it gets even lower.
We have decided to keep to our plan for another week, we enjoyed dinner together then said goodbye to Joe and Tara. We are heading north to Fayette MI. in the morning. They are going to stay in WI and Tara is planning to sky dive this weekend in Sturgeon Bay.
