We entered the Chambly Canal today, turns out we could have stayed just outside the lock 9 at a Canada Parks Dock which is covered in our summer pass we purchased a few month ago. It would have been a nice place to visit.

The Chambly locks were built in 1810-1830 and are still have hand operated gates. The canal and the locks are no very big, in fact you never pass another boat coming from the other direction. Boats are held at wider locations adjacent to locks to pass. They managed to get $20 Bucks and Jackets II into the locks together but it was a tight fit. I would have to push the boat back so that the gate could get by the anchor.

There was one lock master at each lock or flight of lock if they were together, but the additional workers would go by golf cart ahead of us and be waiting for us to arrive. We did 6 locks today.

We stopped at the wall just before lock 3. It is park of the park system and we could stay for two days. It is a really nice town. We enjoyed dinner with Ken and Pat then the next day the four of us went bicycling to Fort Chambly. Craig and Barbara  got in that afternoon the six of us went out for birthday dinner at TreColori ristorante. I had the house special, linguini and seafood.
