We headed South early in the morning about 6:15. I had been awake since 5 as the sailboat behind us needed help getting off the dock. They were headed to Beaver Island which is northeast and wanted to get into Lake Michigan before the winds picked up. We thought about going also but decided to head south.
The sea were not bad, about 1 foot as we stopped at Washington Island to check out School House Beach. This is a public beach that is part of a park that offers camping. The beach is all stone. The rocks are smooth and of various sizes. The look like they have all been through a tumbler. At one time the stones beaches were like small dunes, now they are flattened out as so many stones have been removed. Stones were moved by the truck load before they were protected. We took a walk and then headed back to the boat and moved further south. I set a course for Menominee, Mi.
